While making activity list for a project, we usually have to insert Activity. So the final Activity list don’t have a nice ascending sequence like below picture:
We want all activities ID to be ascending nicely.
So we select all activities, go to menu Edit -> Renumber Activity ID. Edit the Prefix if necessary, and click OK
But the activity ID is not perfectly ascending.

In Primavera P6 -> Resource Usage Profile, we may have a problem that Unit of measure is not showing.
There could be various causes for this issue:
1) If the resource is a Material resource, the Unit of measure is not specified.
If the resource is a Material resource, you will need to specify the Unit of measure in Enterprise, Resources in the Details tab.
2) If it is a Labor or Non-labor resources, the Show Unit label is not selected.

Sometimes we work in a project which use a different currency other than US dollar.
I will show you how to create new currency and using it for the new project.
Let’s say we have a new project:
This project will use Malaysia Ringgit (MYR). To create new currency, we go to menu Admin -> Currencies.
Click Add and enter information like below:

We may wonder How does P6 calculates and displays summary information for costs, quantities, user defined fields, dates, durations, float, progress…
I will explain it in this article.
These calculations and display summaries are based on the currently visible activities. Activities removed from the layout by filters are not included in the calculations and summaries.
Costs and quantities:
P6 totals cost and quantity data items, such as budgeted cost and budgeted quantity, by adding the values for each activity in the summary.
If you display early dates, P6 shows the earliest early (or actual) start and the latest early (or actual) finish dates. The same rules apply for late dates and baseline early and late dates. Continue reading “How does Primavera P6 summarize data in the Summary / Grouping Band”
